This trip is looking good already! Imagine that....nuggets made out of beaver meat! If they are anything like chicken nuggets, this might be my favorite place.

Summer Road Trip 2013

Oh boy, Oh boy...we are getting the car ready to hit the road tomorrow!!!  Where are we going Rick and Kristen?

Change of Plans in the Hill Country....

I don't know who, exactly, was in charge of fuel.  It's not me, 'cause you know - no thumbs or credit card.  But it was a little bit tense I'm telling you when Rick and Kristen cruised into Exxon with 0 range left on the car!  What an exciting detour start to the day!

Then we got to Enchanted Rock only the line to get in doesn't seem so enchanted! 

 

 

Plus the parking lot is looking full...time to figure out a new plan...good thing we have a full tank of gas now.

I love this place! Colorado Bend State Park is great!  There are trails and fish and birds and trails. Did I mention trails?  I really, really love trails.

 

 

Except...once again there is dog discrimination! 

 

I need a drink of that cool spring water, but I will settle for chewing on this stick since I am not allowed. Plus Rick is clearly not letting me.

We can so do this!  3 mile loop, with the last part straight down to the falls.

 

 

I'm not sure about this...

Ummm...I see that there is a handrail, but I don't exactly have hands. But I will be a brave traveling coonhound!

Time for a cool drink and a dip in the river.  That was hard work...and it was all downhill.  Uh oh.

Here we go back up...Just don't look down!  We can do it!!!

Lizard Hunting on the Pedernales River and the Falls

Things are looking up!  This is great lizard hunting potential here on the Pedernales River.

Plus!  Bonus cardio time...98 steps down to the river and getting in my exercise.  Hoping to tighten up that harness again soon!

Oooh!  Let's go down there!  Let's go, let's go!

Wind in the ears!  Pedernales Falls are the prettiest place in Texas I think!! I am definitely a much happier, warmer, hiking coonhound.

Thanks Kristen and Rick for making me a go dog not a stay at home dog!  Can't wait to see where we are going next!

Ink's Lake and the BIG storm of 2013!!!

We have arrived at Ink's Lake State Park.  It's a good thing too....my harness had to be let out 2 full inches!  I have become a little bit of a stout traveling coonhound!  Time to do some hiking around Devil's Waterhole and get back my boyish figure.

 

It's a bit cloudy and we are hearing about some thunderstorms...this is a worry for me because I do not know about this whole staying in a tent in a rainstorm thing.  But for now I am on the move...

 

 

 

I am not happy about this whole controlling dogs must be on a leash at all times thing.  It is yet another example of doggie discrimination that I have faced in my travels.  Kristen has hooked me to this tree and I have been working very hard to pull it down.  It is strength training that will add to my new weight loss goals.

 



I am a sad, tired, wet, cold traveling coonhound.  Kristen and Rick put a tarp over the tent when a BIG storm, did you hear BIG storm came.  But the run off (see erosion evidence under my magnificent paws) ran into the tent and I suspect mostly under my bed. I do NOT like camping.
